Goofy

Silly me(Photo from 29 July 2007)
My husband and I were recently chatting about Star Trek and suddenly I realised that one of the reasons he loves me is because I can be extremely goofy at times. And I love that I feel safe to be extremely silly around him. There is no judgement or embarrassment afterwards, just a lot of laughter.

Back when we just started dating I requested quicksand, waffles and apple crumble. Eventually I got a waffle maker via my work (thanks to an award point system) and learned to make crumbles myself. I’m still waiting for a trip to a place that has quick sand. However today our living room has this:
New bookshelves
I’m a hopeless book addict and now I finally have enough shelves for all of my books. I’m so much looking forward to pulling them out of the boxes and choosing a place for each one of them. Should I sort them alphabetically? By topic? Size? Or colour?

We have much in common. I sort books by topic.
I spent some time on your flickr page the other day and realized I really need to start using Flickr more. I have a hard time remembering to upload my photos there, but seems like such a nice way to organize them.
Oh, and I love knitting lace (simple patterns so far) as well. It's very pleasing to see all the little holes etc.

Only because you strive to be goofier than me, a lifelong challenge in which you are, sadly, doomed to failure. But I DO love that you try....;-) ~hubby.

Wowee! I've ALWAYS wanted built-in bookcases. I actually have some, but they are in the third floor of our house, the room that is Sergei's.

Hm. I think my books are generally by subject...all the books in Russian are up there, and "new" books, for the most part. In the living room, I realize, I've put the old books, hardbacks with pretty covers. But, for all that, they tend to be literature.

PS - I am so envious you are married to someone named Clive. That has to be the most elegant name! :)

renovations are looking great! :) it's so cool we got to see your place beforehand, so now I have a little idea what it looks(ed) like... and have an idea of the layout. Big bookshelves are cool!

I tend to give my books away after I've read them. I do have scads waiting to be read - from friends, tag sales, thrift shop. If I were to keep books, I'd sort them by topic and then within the topic, I'd sort them by height. I like the look of some standing and some placed flat and stacked. I'd also put vases with silk or dried or fresh flowers, framed photos, etc. among the books for interest.

I'd love those shelves to hold my scrapping stuff and have it all in cute straw boxes.

Did your husband make them?

Beautiful shelves! I started sorting mine by topic, but since I need another 2 (at least) shelves it's degenerated into what I can fit where.

Love the shelves! How cool. I'd hardly know where to start, either.

I know it is logical to sort by topic or author...

but recently I saw a photo in a magazine where someone sorted by color and it looked GREAT and became a design element rather than an organizational plan... great shelves, I am envious!
